Our Programs
Helping Spirit Lodge Society has a broad range of programs
offering safe housing, education and healing to the Aboriginal community.
SPIRIT LODGE
A first-stage transition house for abused and battered women
and children. Housing is provided for a maximum 30 days.
CHOICES
A pre-employment bridging training and Aboriginal-based Life
Skills program for Aboriginal women.
SPIRIT WAY
A supportive and holistic long-term residential program for
Aboriginal women and children. Housing is provided for up to
18 months.
RECLAIMING OUR SPIRIT
Offers culturally-based wellness programs
and a computer learning centre open community participation.
E.A.G.L.E. SPIRITS
Early Aboriginal Guidance in a Loving Environment of Spirits.
Is a six week parenting program for Aboriginal Parents and
children.
ABORIGINAL
WOMEN'S COLLECTIVE
Creating communication and dialogue amongst Aboriginal women
and organizations.
BERNIE WHITEFORD MEMORIAL
WELLNESS CENTRE
Helping Spirit Lodge Society needs a home - a holistic centre
reflecting Aboriginal culture and art, and integrating traditional
values, culture and healing with mainstream practices to strengthen
families and community.
OUTREACH
OUTREACH
provides substantial support to women in the various services
and programs that Helping Spirit Lodge Society has established,
and to women requiring follow-up support after leaving these
services and programs.
OUTREACH support includes:
- Advocacy
- Referrals
- Assistance with transportation and connects
women to community resources
- Provides assistance with
medical, legal, financial and cultural matters
